T-Ball
"Let's teach our kids to have fun at t-ball, to run through the fields with excitement and to rejoice at the opportunity to have these splendid moments with friends and family."
When dealing with kids and t-ball, most parents don't know where to start. It is a common question that is asked frequently. It is an entry sport into baseball or softball and focuses more around getting your feet wet.
Remember first impressions? The same applies to our young ones. Their first impressions of their experiences will help mold them for years to come. The same applies to t-ball.
T-ball is geared around family interaction and the opportunity to nurture them. It takes away the fear of being hit by the baseball and gives them a chance to develop early fundamentals with baseball drills in a very controlled environment.
We have to remember that they are just learning and that it is not about winning or losing at this point in time. Games are usually 4 innings or less and every player gets to bat and play in the field. There is generally no walks, no strikeouts, and no stealing.
So what should we doing as parents?
There are some simple guidelines to follow that will help any parent to remember why they are out there. And guess what? They are really simple to follow. Here are a few:
Show your kids you care by applauding them while giving good effortsUse positive language when talking to themAssist the coaches whenever you can without stepping on their toesHelp teach your kids about sportsmanship and following the rulesGive them great big hugs after practice and after gamesAnd above all, love them unconditionally!
Yea Bill, but what about actual drills to help them out?
Yes, finally.....baseball drills! You are right, this is also important but the above mentioned material is more important and that is why I mentioned it first.
We have to keep the drills simple because their attention span is limited and we are going to make a game out of them.
To view these drills simply click on the defensive or offensive drills listed below and go to work! And remember, have fun!
