BASEBALL HOW TO PRACTICE

Baseball how to practice. Have you ever wondered how to practice baseball the right way? Too many kids are not shown the right way and they suffer because of it. I have included on this site many articles to help you with your teaching and coaching so that your kids will not suffer and will succeed. There is a fine art to "baseball how to practice" Some of these articles are featured articles that have been used extensively on the internet for coaches and players.

MENTAL APPROACH

You won't succeed unless you teach the kids the right mental approach right from the start. This all falls under baseball how to practice. It doesn't do any good to teach them if they are not in the right frame of mind. Even at an early age. When dealing with really young kids, make sure that you incorporate "fun" into the equation so they look forward to coming to the ballpark and participating. Remember, you are developing tools for life here and not just the game. And it is all part of the big picture of baseball how to practice. As they get older, start incorporating "mental preparation" into their toolbox of skills. How? By having them start visualizing them succeeding. Have them picture themselves fielding the ball the right way, have them see themselves hitting the ball hard, etc. Also have them prepare for the pitcher that is throwing that day. If a flame thrower is throwing that day, have them visualize shortening up on their swing and taking the ball the other way and incorporate that into practice..Are you getting the picture?

HOW SHOULD THEY DO BATTING PRACTICE?

One thing I see a lot and probably the most requests I get for "How to practice" is "how to practice batting". You have to have an idea of what you are doing or you are just spinning your wheels. Have them lay down a few bunts to start off, visualizing moving a runner over. When successful move on to hitting the other way and moving a runner over (This helps them stay inside the ball with their hands coming through first). This should be easy swings of just putting the ball on the bat and hitting to the right side. Next, have them work on getting a sacrifice fly ball. Visualizing a runner on third with less than two outs. After that have them take their normal cuts. With this game plan in mind you should start to develop good skills that will help you win ball games.

INFIELD DRILLS

The game of baseball and how to practice involves many steps and it won't come over night but with persistence and consistency, you will make a difference. When incorporating infield drills, drive it home with them that is game like conditions. When teaching them the fundamentals and you are practicing, give them situations and then hit them the ball. When doing the double play, tell them that the game is on the line and we need this double play. This will develop not only the right frame of mind for fielding groundballs but will also help them develop the mental side of the game so they are always visualizing before the play actually occurs.
