BASEBALL VENEZUELA PICTURES, A COLLECTION FROM WINTERBALL
VENEZUELA
WINTERBALL
I took many venezuela pictures, but taking a stroll on the beach in Venezuela during a day off was the best. The beaches were superb! And yes, that was me many moons ago!
This is the stadium of Caracas. We played here numerous times and was a great experience.
More baseball venezuela pictures. Getting ready for batting practice. I was playing for the "Tigres de Aragua" and was making good money to play for them.
TAKING MORE BATTING PRACTICE.
THE IGUANAS!
Over the several winters I played here, I encountered "mucho" iguanas. They were everywhere. In the pool, on the golf course, in the trees. And they were large and fast! Some with attitudes and some without. Of all the venezuela pictures, here are a few of the ones we caught.
We would jump in the pool in the morning and find iguanas taking a swim after falling out of the over hanging trees. You had to grab them behind the tail and the head or you would get tail whipped by them. And the top of their tails were like razor blades. Ouch!!
Mike Davis (formerly of the Oakland A's) and I with one of our catches.
Keith Atherton (formerly of A's also) and his wife with their catch.
"THE TOWN"
Of all the venezuela pictures, I wish I had more of this town. On one of my off days, two of my guides took me to a town that was high in the mountains off the beaten path. It was a glorious experience and totally different from the rest of Venezuela.
I would be amiss if I didn't include a picture of my two guides. They were wonderful and taught me a lot about Venezuela.
"THE ISLAND RETREAT!"
During New Year's, we were taken to an island about 3 miles off the coast of Venezuela and dropped off on our own private island for 3 days by the owner of the club. It was like the blue lagoon. Full of coconuts, iguanas, and plenty of blue water! It was truly amazing. Here are a few of the pictures.
MISC.....
Taking a bus ride through the jungles of Venezuela. Can be very intense! But certainly worth the ride.
Lobby of the hotel that I stayed in for 3 months.
Playing frisbee with my old coach Bob Didier. A great baseball man and still in the game today. One of our days off.
This was a japanese ballplayer that came over and played in the Venezuelan league as an experiment. As it turns out, I played against him much later in career in Japan! Small world.
Mike Davis and "Poncho" horsing around. Poncho was our clubhouse guy and did a great job.
