T-Ball-Practice-Drills

T-ball-practice-drills need to be fun and is vitally important to the growth of your kids. We need to preach fundamentals the right way.

T-ball-practice-drills need to be fun and the winning and losing aspect of it disgarded. Practicing needs to be built around fun activities and needs to start at a general foundation.

We will get into infield practicing and outfield practicing on other pages along with baserunning and offensive drills, but for now let's cover some basic skills that need to be developed.

Obviously, catching and throwing are at the heart of the matter. And until you can do this, you might as well forget the other things until we begin to develop simple catching and throwing.

So what can be done for parents and coaches to help them develop t-ball-practice-drills? And to make it fun? Let's take a look at a few that I have used in the past when coaching t-ball and implementing t-ball practice drills.

Start by having players line up opposite each other at a close range. Have them play catch tossing the ball to each other for about 5 minutes to get lose and used to it. And then make a game out of it. You could tell them that each pair that are playing catch leaves the line when one of them drops it. The last remaining pair wins!

You can also keep track of the number of successful tosses and catches and reward them after practice with juices or a sticker.

Remember, we are keeping the drills fun for everyone. Also while throwing, we are trying to teach them to step with a small crow hop and step towards their partner. Let them know this before they start playing catch. And most of all be patient!

Points to remember:

  • Teach them small crow hop and stepping towards the other player while throwing
  • Start them off at close range and have them play catch and throw for approximately 5 minutes
  • After 5 minutes, make a game out of it by having the pair that drops a ball leaves the line. Last remaining pair wins!
  • Now let's get into some other drills designed specifically for the outfield, infield, and hitting.

  • T-ball infield drills
  • T-ball outfield drills
  • T-ball offensive drills
  • T-ball baserunning
